The Whitmor Story
Under the leadership of the late Charles Whitman, Whitmor commenced business in 1946 in Brooklyn, NY, as a pioneer in the manufacturing of garment bags. In 1961, Whitmor began a 48-year stay in Earle, AR, during which time the company continually expanded its product line. The late Donald Felsenthal was the heart and soul of Whitmor’s growth as a domestic manufacturer through the mid-1990s, when the company began its transition to overseas sourcing.
In 2009, Whitmor relocated to its new world headquarters and state-of-the-art distribution center in Southaven, MS, located only minutes from Memphis International Airport. Our new facility provides us with the foundation for continued operational excellence and growth of our primarily Asian-produced home organization, storage, laundry and garment care products.
As a 4th-generation family-owned and -operated business, we take great pride in meeting the many challenges that have presented themselves to our company throughout our more than 65-year history. From successfully transitioning our business from a fully vertical domestic manufacturing operation for 50+ years to a manufacturing partner with numerous Asian factories, to overcoming the aftermath of a devastating tornado that destroyed our global distribution center in Earle, AR, in 2008, Whitmor has consistently exceeded expectations.
From generation to generation, we take the greatest pride in supplying products and services to meet the needs of our retail partners and—more importantly—the consumers who benefit from using our products in their everyday lives.
Value, innovation, outstanding customer service and high ethical standards—these are our commitments to you. It is a pleasure and an honor to serve both our retail partners and the consumers who purchase and use our products. The entire Whitmor team work extraordinarily hard to gain and maintain your trust and confidence.
